Everything you need to know about the lift chair
What is an electric lift chair?
The electric lift chair is part of the relaxation chair family. It combines the comfort and ergonomics of a classic relaxation chair with the ease of sitting down and getting up thanks to the lift function that will straighten you up. The lift function is activated using a remote control , the chair can fully rise, and helps you settle in, and puts you back in a sitting position without straining your legs or back. Several adjustment options are available depending on the number of motors chosen. Choose autonomy, ease and relaxation for your home! Choose the lift chair!
The Relief Function
Activated from the remote control, the lift function will allow you to stand up or sit down with great ease . You will gain great autonomy while reducing the risk of falls when you sit down or when you stand up. In fact, the chair will straighten up completely until you are almost in an upright position, you will no longer have to make a big effort to stand up. Thanks to the many seating positions offered by the chair , you will inevitably find your ideal position. These adjustments also help to improve vascularization, particularly in the lower limbs.
This type of chair is perfect for prolonged sitting . Some lift chairs will be made of memory foam , which will limit the risk of pressure sores forming. This foam will adapt completely to the shape of your body and will give you a very pleasant feeling of weightlessness. Thanks to this, your body will not be subject to pressure points and will therefore be less likely to suffer from the consequences of prolonged sitting. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information on our products and possible adaptations .
The Relaxation Function
The backrest and footrest adjustments allow you to set them up in an optimal comfort position . Depending on the chair chosen, these adjustments can be independent. If there is only one motor, the backrest and footrest will move simultaneously. If there are several motors (there can be up to 4 for total adaptability), the backrest and footrest will be independent and will each be precisely adjusted. If you choose a 180° chair, this will mean that you can adjust the inclinations of its sections until you find yourself lying down . You will then have a chair with infinite adjustments , from the sitting position to the horizontal position. All these adjustments will be made simply thanks to the integrated electric remote control, very practical and easy to use .
The Mechanism
A lift chair can offer 3 modes, electrically controlled by remote control and without limit:
Rest Mode:
Lying position with a fully reclined backrest. The footrest is raised horizontally. This function is not available on all relaxation chairs;
Relaxation Mode:
The backrest is partially reclined, as you wish. The footrest is raised, again at the angle you choose;
Lift Mode:
Negative tilt of the chair allowing you to sit down or stand up easily thanks to its almost vertical position (backrest, seat and footrest included).
The electric relaxation armchair is composed of: A removable, enveloping backrest providing significant lumbar support. It can be lowered or raised using a remote control, or by body pressure; A removable leg rest. It is operated using the remote control and is activated independently of the backrest if there are several motors; Most of the time, 2 24-volt motors (this can range from 1 – in this case the adjustments are made simultaneously – to 4); An easy-to-use remote control.
Anatomy of the Lift Chair
Some specificities
When choosing your recliner chair, you will need to pay attention to its dimensions . We recommend choosing a chair whose dimensions are adapted to your size. Chairs vary in width and height ; the taller you are, the higher the chair we recommend so that you can lift it up in the best possible conditions. It is also important to consider the space needed around the chair itself so that it can fully extend. It is generally considered that you need around sixty centimeters at the back of the chair so that it is not blocked when you decide to lower the backrest.
There are also "back-to-wall" chairs that extend less and are therefore easier to integrate into a living room. If you suffer from back pain, heating and massaging options are ideal . By heating your chair for a few minutes, your back pain will be alleviated. The massage will help you relax and, again, alleviate your pain. It is generally done with two massage heads that will move up and down along your spine. For the chair's upholstery, it is best to choose a good quality foam with a relatively high density. If the foam is of good quality, it will return to its shape once you leave the chair, whereas if it is average, it risks sagging around your contours and comfort will quickly diminish.
