How to dismantle a Murphy bed?

Maintaining the Murphy bed means taking good care of your furniture on a daily basis. If you ever have to dismantle it, to move for example, you will have to be extra careful not to damage it. How to do ? You will first have to dismantle the facade and the frame then separate the bed from the wall. You will then finish with the dismantling of the box .

Step #1: the bedding part

During installation, fitting the bedding was the last step. So, to dismantle your retractable bed , this time this will be the first operation to carry out. Start by removing the mattress from the box spring , detaching the strap. Then remove the box spring from the bed frame. You can now easily unhook the mechanism that connects your bed to the bed cabinet. Once this entire part has been removed, you now have access to the large wooden box attached to the wall.

Step 2: fixing to the wall

The foldaway bed is securely attached to the wall with brackets. You can then remove the dowels from the wall to release the wooden box. It will be necessary to plan to fill the holes. Now that the cabinet is no longer attached to the wall, carefully lower it to the floor. Being two people for this step is widely recommended, to properly distribute the weight of the cabinet when lowering it.

Step #3: the cabinet frame

With the wooden box on the ground, dismantling will be much easier. At this point it's just a few boards to take apart. All you have to do is unscrew all the fasteners to release each board. Preserve each small part carefully, in anticipation of the future installation of your Murphy bed in another room or in a new house.
